Weekly Letter

This was one of the longest weeks of our lives.  We were planning on driving to our mission home on Wednesday but we got a call from the office that the mission president was out of town. We drove from Kristy's home to Indianapolis on Tuesday and then on to our new area on Wednesday.  We have a nice apartment, one bedroom and an office, one bathroom, a kitchen and a good-size living room.  This is an old but stately house. It looks like this was the really nice part of town when these houses were built. Our house is built on an acre of land and there are trees all around us, especially behind us where it looks like a forest. Anyway, when we got here we didn't have any internet and the data speed on out phones was impossibly slow. We still don't have any blinds in the windows and Mom thinks the whole world is looking at her.  Our washer and dryer are down in the basement in what looks like a dungeon.  Mom can't reach the light switch so I have to help her down th...

Weekly Letter 9-18-22

This was our last week at the MTC.  It was a great week of learning and especially feeling the spirit of missionary week.  This is a special place where the love the Savior is very evident. We have had the opportunity to be with special people the last couple of weeks. We have learned together, laughed together, cried together and strengthen our testimonies together. We had a good Sunday.  We met together for our Sunday meetings.  It is a neat experience to meet with a bunch of senior missionaries who are there for the same reasons and same goals. There is a special bond among us.  After church se took our last visit to Joy and her family and hold June before we take off.   We started our MLS (Member Leader Support) training this week. We were taught by a returned MLS missionary couple who served in Australia. They were able to give us a little more practical training on some of the things we will probably be doing in our own mission. It was great to have s...

Sept. 11, 2022 Letter

Hello family!  We have survived our first week in the MTC.  It has been really challenging and very rewarding. We've made some good senior couple friends who will be going to all kinds of missions in all parts of the world.  If I remember right, there were 54 senior missionaries in our group.  We were divided into districts of about 14-16 people. Our district members were Elder and Sister Sharrat, Berube, Wright, Harmon, Haderlie, Wilson, Christensen and us. Elder Haderlie and I  served in the same BYU-I stake and we remembered each other. We have a fun district and have a good time in class while learning important concepts and doctrine.  Mom wants me to mention that I was called to be the District Leader. Our morning teachers, Sister Mando and Sister Gee are a lot of fun. Sister Mando has a quick wit and super sense of humor.  Sister Mando and Sister Gee are best friends and kind of feed off each other. Sister Mando served in New York City and when s...
