Weekly Letter
Dear Family and Friends,
Another week come and gone. We hope this letter finds you all well and happy. We had a pretty slow week. We spent some time going to the doctors. We both went to the dermatologist. Mom looks fine, has a little eczema or psoriasis or something like that on her nose and elbow and ear. She got some ointment to take care of it. I had a little thing growing on my ear lobe, it kind of felt like what the basal cell thing I had on my head a few years ago. They took a sample off my ear for a biopsy, shouldn't be a big deal.
It was my turn to teach at Family Home Evening. We follow the Come Follow Me manuals but a year behind. Last year the Church studied the Old Testament so we are doing that in FHE this year. The lesson I taught was the vision of the world and its inhabitants that God gave to Moses and how Satan tried to get Moses to worship him. I love Moses' response, "Who art thou? For behold, I am a son of God, in the similitude of the Only Begotten; and where is your glory, that I should worship thee." I like teaching and they like the way I teach, so it's a good match.
Tuesday was another doctor day. I have what feels like a pinched nerve near my shoulder blade that hurt enough that it made it hard to sleep or move or function real well. I know, wah, wah. The doctor said it is probably not a nerve problem but a strained muscle. He gave be some exercises and we bought a heating pad and a massage gun. I'm feeling pretty good now.
Thursday was our regular hospital day. I know we say this every time, but we really enjoy it. We are usually pretty tired when we are done, but we feel good when we are finished. That night we went to the Flanagan home for dinner. Brian and Kim really take good care of us. They normally have us over once a week for dinner, and that's where we go for FHE. We talked about Brian earlier. He is a really big man that has fallen and hurt himself several times. We found out he fell again today and is really hurting, but he still wants to have everyone over for FHE. We are taking them dinner on Wednesday. They are becoming really good friends and we worry about him. Kim is going to work with Mom in the Young Women.
Friday we had District Council meeting in Morgantown. I know we've said this before, but we really enjoy being around the young missionaries. After our meeting we decided to go to a restaurant we really like that is kind of on our way home. We only went once before with the Branch President and his wife just after we got here. We heard they have a good seafood buffet on Fridays so we gave them a try. It was OK, nothing special. So now we are looking for something closer and better.
Saturday it turned cold and snowy with snow in the streets, so we stayed home and took it easy. It was cold again today but not much snow, so we were able to get to church. We don't feel complete unless we get to church. We had two visitors today that boosted our attendance to about 20!
Mom's scripture is actually a quote from Pres. Hinckley from our Preach My Gospel manual. "Do you want to be happy? Forget yourself and get lost in this great cause. Lend your efforts to helping people... Stand higher; lift those with feeble knees, hold up the arms of those that hang down. Live the Gospel of Jesus Christ." This is directed to missionaries, but it applies to every one of us.
Have a great week. We love you and pray for you daily.
Love,
Mom and Dad
