Weekly Letter

Dear Friends and Family,

Another week down the drain. We hope this letter finds all of you well and happy.  We had another good week.  We had our first service at the Institute on Tuesday. We had a taco bar for dinner.  Before dinner we met with the Institute Council where they were planning upcoming activities.  We are invited to participate with them if we want to.  We will probably do some of the activities with them occasionally.  Some of the activities are not senior-couple friendly like playing car hide and seek  and stuffing as many people into your car as possible.  There were about 12-15 students including the sister missionaries for dinner, and they were all grateful for the free food. We prep, serve and clean up.  It makes for a long afternoon and evening, and we were tired when it was time to go home.  It's about an hour drive back to our apartment.

Wednesday we got quite a bit of family history work done.  Our stake has asked us all get our four-generation sheets and then to check them out and print them.  We have all that information in Family Tree, we just needed to learn how to print it off.  We worked in the Memories section and added some pictures and labeled those in the pictures.  We would encourage each of you to enter in pictures or videos or other kinds of memories.  It's easy and it's fun.

Thursday morning was spent at the hospital again.  It was the slowest time we have had at the hospital since we started there.  It was snowy and windy and we think that if people didn't have to be there they stayed home.  Our supervisor had us go home a few minutes early.  The weather cleared a little in the afternoon so we spent some time delivering birthday cards and Idaho Spuds.

Friday was our normal District Council meeting in Morgantown. This one felt a little different because it was the last District Council before the next transfer.  We have one Sister going home on this transfer and some of the missionaries in our district will be moving to new areas.  We have one elder that has been in our mission until his visa paperwork came through to go to the Marshall Islands.  He got an email during our meeting telling him that the paperwork was being sent to him so he will probably be going to the Marshall Islands soon. The missionaries were having people sign their journals or flags or favorite scriptures.  Just a little different feel to this meeting.

Saturday we drove from one end of our area to the other delivering invitations for our branch chili dinner.  We finally got to talk to one of our inactive members that we have been trying to see since we got here.  We had a really nice visit with him and invited him to come to our dinner and church.  I don't think he will come to either, but we did what we could.

Today was Mom's first Sunday at the helm of the Young Women!  We only had one girl from our branch today, but we had some visitors at church and they had two young women that came to class and that really helped.  They have never had a Young Women's program in this branch, at least not any that people remember.  Mom has her work cut out for her.  I got another calling today, I was called to be the adult Sunday School teacher. I can blame Mom for that because she asked for the current teacher to be one of her counselors.  I guess we are needed here.

Mom chose the scripture today.  It is found in 2Nephi 25:26; "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, and we prophecy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins."  She loves this scripture because it bears her testimony of Christ and the importance of teaching that to our children.

West Virginia has a specialty called pepperoni rolls.  It's a pastry with pepperoni and cheese in the middle.  The Flanagans made some for us and gave them to us today. I will attach a picture.

Have a great week.  We love you and pray for you daily.
