Dear Family and Friends, Well, we are kind of in a rut right now.  We are doing about the same things on the same days. We went to Family Home Evening on Monday where I (Dad) taught the lesson.  We study out of the Old Testament Come Follow Me manual. I don't  mind teaching, but teaching the Old Testament can be a little challenging at times. But everyone said it was a good lesson so I guess I did OK.  The biggest challenge is keeping everyone on track.  Tuesday was dinner at the Institute.  We did pulled chicken barbeque sandwiches and everybody really liked them.  We had a good day of family history work on Wednesday.  We will go to the Washington D.C. temple at least one more time before we come home so we are trying to get some family names we can do the work for.  We found  a couple of names for Mom to do and I found one ancestor that needs all of his work done but has some problems I have to fix.  We are having a Family Histor...

Weekly Letter

Dear Friends and Family, It's been a quiet week.  Our friend Brian Flanagan had a severe kidney infection this last week.  It was causing him a lot of pain added to the pain he is always dealing with.  He asked if I could come over and give him a blessing which I was happy to do.  No one else was around to help me give the blessing so I did it myself.  When we took him a hamburger the next day the kidney pain was pretty much gone. For Brian, a hamburger is like a pain killer, so he really enjoyed that.  We have another brother in the branch named Glen Piper who has been in the hospital and rehab center for the last several weeks.  He came home this week so we took dinner over to him and his wife.  We are just trying to serve those around us however we can.  We served at the hospital again this week.  We only missed one week but it seemed like we were gone for a long time. We were back at the Institute cooking for the kids again this week...

Dear Family and Friends, Another week come and gone.  This was a pretty busy week. It started with our Family Home Evening group on Monday.  We reviewed General Conference talks and discussed them.  It's interesting how different talks affect different people. The same talk can touch our hearts differently, as needed.  We had a very good discussion. Tuesday we were on the road early on the way to Clarksburg for our zone conference.  The last two conferences have been tri-zone conferences where half the mission goes on one day and the other half goes on another.  We also had to travel to the mission home which is about 3 1/2 hours away.  Clarksburg is only about 1 1/2 hours away.  We had great messages by Sis. and Pres. Lyndahl.  The zone leaders and sister zone leaders taught us during break-away meetings.  Our new mission nurse gave us some wise counsel on how to stay more healthy (directed mostly to the young elders).  Sis. and Pr...

Dear Family and Friends, This is going to be short.  We did nothing out of the ordinary this week until today. Tuesday was another dinner for the Young Single Adults at the Institute.  One thing different was that we actually ran out of some food this time.  I think that was a first.  We made three different kinds of soup and some rolls.  We ran out of rolls and chicken noodle soup.  Some of that was because we had two Elders and a young man from Oakland they are teaching come for dinner. This young man, named Daniel, referred himself, has come to church twice without the Elders and stayed for both meetings and now has driven from Oakland to Morgantown, an hour drive, to attend the Institute class. He wants to be around young people and make friends.  The Oakland Branch is definitely not a young person branch.  Our average age is probably 65 or older.  We think he will be baptized in the next couple of weeks. We have quite a few birthdays thi...
